It is with great pleasure that I humbly serve our Nolan Catholic community as the Dean of Students. The high school years are uniquely punctuated by the joyous transition of boys and girls into men and women. As a Marianist school following the perfect example of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we seek to develop well-formed and virtuous men and women of God. In Galatians 5:14, Saint Paul writes “For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” in which we receive simple yet challenging instruction.
We apply Saint Paul’s teaching in four ways as a community—in our love for God, for each other, for ourselves, and for our school.
Thus, we live in harmony when we love God and all of His creation.
As with any family, we are called to love constantly—even in difficult circumstances. When this relationship is disturbed or threatened, we make every attempt to reconcile the student with our community. All efforts will be expended to help students remain at peace within our school. Respecting parents as primary educators, we build an extended family relationship as we seek to grow in love and service to the Lord as a unified Catholic community. This mission of growth must be shared equally by all as we individually strive to do our best to follow Christ.
We stand on the shoulders of all of those Nolan Catholic students who have gone before us. Our legacy of responsibility to honor our school is steeped in our Marianist tradition of “making Christ present in every age and culture by forming persons and communities of apostolic faith that advance justice and reconciliation.” As a Catholic school community, we are always called to love our neighbor as ourselves. When we do, we flourish as true disciples. GO VIKINGS!
