Dear Nolan Catholic Parents and Guardians:
I hope this letter finds you rested and enjoying the last few days of summer before our new school year begins. We are looking forward to seeing our returning families and to welcoming all of our new families to the Nolan Catholic community.
For me, the start of this year brings with it renewed energy and promise. First of all, it is my great pleasure to announce that Cathy Buckingham, who has served as interim principal since April, 2009, has accepted this role on a permanent basis. As a teacher, administrator and NCHS parent, Cathy brings a unique perspective to this position as well as demonstrated leadership that has earned her the confidence and support of her administrative team and the entire faculty and staff. Our community is blessed to have such a qualified and dedicated principal and administrative team.
Another area of great excitement for this year comes from the launch of our new 2010-2015 strategic plan: Vision for the Future: A Plan for Distinction that was approved by our advisory board this past spring. It is a comprehensive roadmap that will guide us through the next five years and beyond.
As you return to campus this year, you’ll notice our plan already in action. As part of our new strategy, we have enhanced our physical campus through additional landscaping, classroom upgrades and building improvements. In addition, our Guidance Department has restructured to allow for enhanced college planning and student counseling.
In the next few weeks, you will receive a summary document outlining the entire five-year strategy. I think you will find this plan ambitious, yet essential in our mission to provide a distinctively Marianist education that is the hallmark of Nolan Catholic High School.
As the year progresses, I welcome the opportunity to connect with you through the many events and activities scheduled throughout the year.
