

Seniors Michael Alonso and Alyce Anderson were named Chaminade and Marian award recipients at Friday's Senior Awards and Robing Ceremony. The Chaminade and Marian Awards are Nolan Catholic's top awards given to a graduating senior boy and girl who most represent Nolan Catholic High School, the Graduate Profile and the Characteristics of a Marianist Education. Faculty choose these students based on the traits of honesty, personality, initiative, leadership, service, personal appearance, religious conduct, family spirit, scholastic record, as well as the students' attitude toward fellow students, NCHS and the entire Nolan Catholic community.
Michael Coffer and Hali Nguyen Named Class of 2010 Valedictorian and Salutatorian
Top academic honors for the Class of 2010 have been awarded to Michael Coffer, valedictorian, and Hali Nguyen, salutatorian.
Michael will attend the
Hali will attend Notre Dame and tentatively plans to major in psychology. Hali attended elementary school at St. Maria Goretti Catholic School in Arlington and is a member of the Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church.
Four Seniors Named National Merit Finalists
Four members of the Class of 2010 have qualified as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. The finalists, pictured above (left to right) are: Michael Coffer, Lien Le, Hali Nguyen and Damon Paulo. These seniors have been chosen from more than 15,000 semifinalists named in September 2009, and will be considered for National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2010.
Other accolades for the Class of 2010 include two military appointments to West Point Military Academy offered to Damon Paulo and Johnny Eckelbarger; More than $11.8 million in scholarship offers to 50 percent of the class; and 37,400 Christian Ministry hours over their four years at NCHS in service to the community. Congratulations to the Class of 2010.
